Though, the dog or the new puppy can wreak mess and chaos on the home, yard, or at neighborly relationships. So, for the sake of a happy home life and a happy content and comfortable puppy, dog training is necessity. A right approach, in combination with professional and effective dog obedience training, can ensure that the newest family member will fit right in.

There are several secretes that can be followed for success. One must know, by nature, dogs travel in packs, with the alpha dog as the leader of the pack. Only one alpha dog can be in a single pack; else, a confusion and pandemonium would ensue and the safety of the pack would be in peril. So, the dog needs to suppose his owner as the alpha dog of the pack. The owner should communicate to his dog by exerting your leadership, such as taking him for a walk when returning home from work or by successfully completing a dog obedience training course together. The owner should also exert his alpha dog status by controlling the dog's food. When the dog comes to know that food will be given twice a day that will reinforce the owner's position as alpha dog.

Giving a lesson to a puppy is much easier than training a grown up dog. Although it is not true that a grown up dog can never be trained, but it takes a lot more time and patience. Training a puppy or a dog is very essential, but things should never be an errand. A strong and contented owner-pet relationship can only be made if proper mutual reciprocation obedience and reverence is there. A dog actually respects his owner as the alpha dog of the pack if the owner respects and meets his needs. In other words, out of a package of treats respect and obedience dog can never grow, neither can they grown out of fear. Excessive rewards or pampering and excessive harshness can lead to erratic behavior, while the appropriate praise correction and rewarding can lead to respect.

Engaging a dog in prolonged training sessions is not a good practice. Like kids, the concentration spans of dogs are relatively short. So, the owner should make a training session fun filled and hardly 15 minutes long. Almost all the dog trainers tell that owners are generally at fault when dogs don't successfully learn their commands. That is because dogs see the world in black and white, whereas humans see the world in shades of gray. It is important to command with a consistent vocabulary or sign if an owner wants to change the behavior of his dog with his commands and sign languages. For humans, "COME" and "COME ON" mean the similar thing; while a dog, may understand "COME" but is clueless as to what his owner wants when he says, "COME ON."
